missing you always (2018)
Bolognese print, plaster cast print, vinyl sticker
Missing You Always is a pasta print installation. The pasta featured is an important dish in my Italian-American family; reserved only for special occasions. To me, the recipe is synonymous with family, unity, warmth, and love. This piece is an investigation of memory-specific and site-specific food, and how it affects interpersonal relationships. Moving away from my family separated myself from the moments of unity that this dish represents. The piece also investigates the romanticization of family, and how our real experiences do not always live up to our familial fantasy.
